    TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

An older brother speaking with another older brother.

We might ask a trusted friend whether he has noticed any haughtiness in us that we cannot see in ourselves.—Ps 139:23, 24; w07 2/15 29 ¶6

    1. Guard Your Heart Against Haughtiness

    (10 min.)

Both the Tyrian dynasty of kings and the angel who became Satan were haughty (Eze 28:2, 13-15; w05 10/15 23 ¶10-12)

Haughtiness led to wrong conduct and Jehovah’s judgment (Eze 28:16, 17; Jas 4:6)

We must avoid developing a haughty heart (it “Haughtiness” ¶6)

    2. Spiritual Gems

The Bible contrasts haughtiness with patience. (Ec 7:8) As you watch the following dramatizations, note the benefits of demonstrating patience in various situations in the congregation.

Collage: Scenes from the video series “Better to Be Patient Than to Be Haughty in Spirit.” 1. A couple smile as a brother conducts the meeting for field service. 2. Two brothers smile as they speak after an elders’ meeting. 3. Frances helps push Sister Kenny in her wheelchair as Brother Kenny walks alongside them.

      TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

An exhausted Babylonian soldier sits on a rock, his hand touching his bald head. Behind him, downcast troops return from the ruined city of Tyre.

      1. Jehovah Remembers What We Do for Him

      (10 min.)

Jehovah used the Babylonians to carry out a costly war against Tyre (Eze 29:18; ip-1 252 ¶20)

Jehovah gave Nebuchadnezzar Egypt as “wages” (Eze 29:19; 30:25; it “Hire, Wages” ¶1)

Jehovah compensated Nebuchadnezzar and his army because they acted for him (Eze 29:20)

FOR MEDITATION: If Jehovah remembered what the faithless Babylonians did for him, how much more will he remember and reward even the smallest act of service that we render in support of his Kingdom.—w02 12/15 18 ¶19.

Jesus leads his heavenly army into war against earthly military forces.

        1. Mighty Rulers Are No Match for Jehovah!

        (10 min.)

Jehovah’s destruction of Egypt would “cause many peoples to be awestruck” (Eze 32:10)

During Armageddon, mighty rulers will be no match for Jehovah and his executional forces (Re 16:14; rr 198-199 ¶22-23)

                    8. Do You Keep in Mind Angelic Support While Preaching?

                    (15 min.) Discussion.

Two sisters preach to a tattooed man at his doorway while an angel watches them from behind.

We know that in the future, Jehovah will use “the armies in heaven” to protect us during the great tribulation. (Re 19:11, 14, 15; Ps 91:9-12) However, even now, Jehovah uses his powerful angels to support us in the preaching work. When sharing in the ministry, do you see them with your eyes of faith?

Read 2 Kings 6:15-17. Then ask the audience:

                    • When you are in the ministry, what do you imagine the angels doing to support you?

Read Revelation 14:6, 7. Then ask the audience:

                    • Why do we need help from the angels to preach?

                    • Where is “midheaven”?

Play the VIDEO “Eager to Declare the Good News”—Excerpt. Then ask the audience:

                    • Why should we keep in mind the role of the angels in the preaching work?
