        (10 min.)

Jeremiah proclaimed an unpopular message during a time of political controversy in Judah (Jer 37:6-10; jr 27 ¶22)

He was persecuted because his position was misunderstood (Jer 37:13-15; jr 28 ¶23)

Jehovah supported Jeremiah while he was imprisoned (Jer 37:21; w08 10/15 11 ¶18)

ASK YOURSELF, ‘How can the examples of Jeremiah and others motivate me to support God’s Kingdom during times of political unrest?’

            (15 min.) Discussion.

King David referred to Jehovah as “a protector of widows.” (Ps 68:5) The Bible provides many examples that show how he cares for them.

            • Using research tools available in your language, find one or two accounts involving widows in the Bible. What do these narratives teach you about how Jehovah views and cares for widows?

If you are a widow, be assured that Jehovah understands your deepest feelings and needs. He will protect and support you, just as he has done for many in the past and continues to do today.

                (15 min.) Discussion.

In his letters, the apostle Paul often highlighted the importance of sharing. His advice was timely back then, and it remains relevant today.—Eph 4:28; 1Ti 6:17, 18.

Read Hebrews 13:16. Not long after receiving Paul’s counsel, Christians in Judea had to flee to the mountains, leaving behind their homes, work, and many of their belongings. At that time, there was likely an urgent need for all Christians to share what they had with one another.

                • How would Christians have benefited from applying Paul’s counsel?
