Jehovah completely forgave repentant Israelites (Jer 50:20)

Christians strive to imitate Jehovah’s mercy by declaring the good news and helping people flee from false religion (Jer 50:2, 8; w08 6/15 8-9 ¶8-11)

    2. Spiritual Gems

      (10 min.)

Zedekiah did not stand up for what is right (Jer 52:1, 2; jr 29)

Zedekiah broke an oath that he swore in God’s name (Jer 52:3; w17.10 23 ¶9-10)

Zedekiah did not escape the consequences of his actions (Jer 52:8-11)

      7. Our Donations Glorify God’s Beautiful Name

(15 min.) Discussion by an elder.

An older sister uses her tablet to make a donation on jw.org.

The Israelites who would not be directly involved in the construction of the temple were invited to glorify Jehovah’s name by their generous contributions. (1Ch 29:8-10) Today, we cannot be directly involved in every theocratic project. However, through our donations, we can fully support these initiatives. Organizational updates on jw.org allow us to see how our gifts contribute to the glory due Jehovah’s name. (Ps 96:8) These updates also move us to praise Jehovah for all that he is accomplishing on earth and for allowing us to have a share.—1Ch 29:14-16; Isa 12:5.

Play the VIDEO Giving Glorifies Jehovah. Then ask the audience:

      • How do our donations bring praise to Jehovah?

      • How have you benefited from the organizational updates on jw.org and the letters of appreciation that you receive?

        7. Do Not Forget Our Inactive Brothers and Sisters

        (15 min.) Discussion.

We spend much time and effort searching for people who want to learn about Jehovah and serve him. However, we cannot forget those “related to us in the faith” who have become inactive.—Ga 6:10.

Our brothers and sisters become inactive for various reasons. Some become absorbed in secular work or are overwhelmed by life’s problems or suffer from depression and other health difficulties. Still others are troubled by a guilty conscience, have been stumbled, or have had their feelings hurt. Many who are inactive still love Jehovah but may feel unworthy of resuming their worship. The elders are keenly interested in assisting these ones and take the lead in helping them return to Jehovah. (1Pe 5:2) However, how might you be of assistance to an inactive brother or sister?

A scene from the video “Encourage the Inactive Ones.” The sister attentively listens to the inactive sister as she expresses herself.

          7. Help Caregivers Not to Give Out

          (15 min.) Discussion.

Christians consider it a privilege to care for loved ones. Nevertheless, caregiving presents challenges. One way that Jehovah helps caregivers not to give out is by means of practical assistance from fellow believers.

Read Proverbs 20:18 and Philippians 2:4. Then ask the audience:

          • How can family members apply these scriptures when caring for loved ones?

A scene from the video “Comfort for the Caregiver.” The sister and her elderly mother are enjoying some snacks with their friends.

Play the VIDEO Comfort for the Caregiver. Then ask the audience:

          • What is involved in being a caregiver?

          • How can caregivers take care of themselves?

          • How can the congregation help caregivers?

          • How does Jehovah help caregivers not to give out?

Israelites worship an idolatrous image at the temple in Jerusalem.

                1. Idolaters Break Jehovah’s Heart

                (10 min.)

Jehovah’s people became steeped in idolatry (Eze 5:11)

                Their idolatry made Jehovah feel “brokenhearted” (Eze 6:9; w04 5/15 6 ¶2-3)

                7. Why Refrain From Nationalistic Ceremonies?

                (15 min.) Discussion.

Christians must refrain from idolatry in all its forms. For example, we do not participate in nationalistic ceremonies, since that would involve sharing in the worship of something or someone other than Jehovah God. (Mt 4:10) As you watch the following video, think about nationalistic ceremonies that are common in your area.

A scene from the video “Maintain Neutrality at Public Events.” The young sister stands respectfully in a classroom while other classmates salute the flag.

Jehovah is a precise Timekeeper (Eze 7:3; rr 66-68 ¶13-15)

When Jehovah’s set time arrived, the Israelites had not changed their detestable ways, so he acted against them (Eze 7:4, 10)

Knowing that Jehovah’s day will come on time moves us to make wise use of our time (rr 70 ¶19)

                  7. Imagine the Outcome

                  (15 min.) Discussion.

Jehovah told unfaithful Israel: “I will bring upon you the results of your own ways, and you will suffer the consequences of your detestable deeds.” (Eze 7:4) What lesson can we learn?

Before embarking on a course of action, we are wise to imagine the outcome. (De 32:29) For example, when tempted to engage in serious wrongdoing, we should stop and think of the blessings that we enjoy from keeping our integrity and the consequences that we would suffer if we were to succumb to the temptation.—Isa 59:2.

Read Proverbs 27:11 and Philippians 4:7. Then ask the audience:

                  • What blessings do we enjoy from keeping our integrity?

                    TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

Collage: A couple stay zealous in the ministry while awaiting prophecies leading up to Armageddon. 1. A church burning down. 2. The United Nations. 3. The sun and moon are darkened. 4. Soldiers at war. 5. Jesus wields a bow as he rides a white horse through the clouds.

Anticipating the events that lead up to Armageddon can motivate us to be zealous in the ministry

                    1. Help Others to Survive Armageddon

                    (10 min.)

Israelites who showed their heartfelt rejection of wickedness received a symbolic mark to keep them safe from destruction (Eze 9:4; rr 173 ¶6)

Those without the mark lost their lives when Jerusalem was destroyed (Eze 9:5, 6)

We can help others turn to Jehovah right up until Armageddon begins (w25.08 31 ¶1-2, 6)

                    7. Save Yourself and Those Who Listen to You

                    (15 min.) Discussion.

How can we save ourselves and those who listen to us? By paying constant attention to ourselves and to our teaching. (1Ti 4:16) We can pay constant attention to ourselves by keeping spiritually strong in order to reject the world’s wicked conduct. We can pay constant attention to our teaching by always working to improve our teaching skills. Our videos can help us do both.
