    TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

    1. “The Share of Those Pillaging Us”

    (10 min.)

The Bible compares mankind to a volatile sea (Isa 17:12; w18.06 7 ¶16)

We expect to be mistreated by this world because of our neutrality (Joh 15:18, 19; w16.04 28 ¶4)

Jehovah will soon deliver us from “those pillaging us” (Isa 17:13, 14; ip-1 198 ¶20)

    7. “Remember the Rock of Your Fortress”

    (10 min.) Discussion.

Jehovah is the Rock of our fortress. (Isa 17:10) He rescues those who take shelter in him. (Ps 144:1, 2) Although Jehovah does not always eliminate opposition, he always gives his friends what they need to endure it.—1Co 10:13.

A scene from the video: “Learn From Jehovah’s Friends—Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.” Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, refuse to bow down to King Nebuchadnezzar’s statue. Nebuchadnezzar angrily commands a soldier to seize them.

One way we show that we remember Jehovah is by obeying him. Play the VIDEO Learn From Jehovah’s Friends—Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Invite selected children to the platform to discuss the following questions, or ask the audience:

    • How did Jehovah rescue his friends?—Da 3:24-28

    • How did Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah show that they were Jehovah’s friends?

    • When is it hard for you to obey Jehovah?

    • What can you do to obey Jehovah?

    8. Make Time Every Day to Learn From Jehovah’s Friends

    (5 min.) Discussion.

A collage of the Bible characters from the video series “Learn From Jehovah’s Friends.” A large Bible and the host of the video series are in the foreground.

The series Learn From Jehovah’s Friends was designed for children who are starting to read. It teaches them about people who loved Jehovah. Each video encourages young ones to “make time every day to learn from Jehovah’s friends.”

    • How can you make time every day to learn about Jehovah and his friends?

    • What Bible characters would you like to learn more about, and why?

      TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

      1. Lessons From Shebna’s Downfall

      (10 min.)

Remain humble when you receive privileges (Isa 22:15-19; w18.03 25 ¶7-9)

If you lose a privilege, be determined to continue to give Jehovah your best (Isa 36:3; w18.03 25 ¶10)

If as a parent or an elder you must give Scriptural discipline, imitate Jehovah’s treatment of Shebna (w18.03 26 ¶11)

Collage: A brother receiving loving counsel and being molded by it. 1. He struggles to accept counsel from two elders. 2. He reads the Bible and meditates. 3. He enjoys the ministry with one of the elders who counseled him.

Loving discipline can be God’s way of molding us

        TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

        1. “This Is Our God!”

        (10 min.)

We have every reason to be proud of our God, Jehovah (Isa 25:9; cl 15 ¶21)

He has so many good things in store for us in the new world—including plenty of good food (Isa 25:6; w24.12 6 ¶14)

        7. Fully Lean On Jehovah When Preparing for Medical or Surgical Care

        (15 min.) Discussion.

Jehovah safeguards “those who fully lean on [him].” (Read Isaiah 26:3.) When preparing for medical situations, we can show that we fully lean on Jehovah by using the provisions he has given us.

Scenes from the video “Are You Prepared for Medical Situations?” 1. A brother does research using the Bible and lesson 39 of the “Enjoy Life Forever!” book. 2. A brother fills out a durable power of attorney. 3. A member of the Hospital Liaison Committee provides support over the phone. 4. A sister presents documents to a doctor.

Play the VIDEO Are You Prepared for Medical Situations? Then ask the audience:

        • What are three provisions that can help us prepare for medical situations?

        • How are medical information documentsa designed to assist us?

        • When is it best to contact the Hospital Liaison Committee?

        • How do you feel about these loving provisions?

The promise of “continuous peace” found at Isaiah 26:3 does not mean that Jehovah will shield us from medical problems. Rather, through the loving provisions from his organization, he helps us feel secure and at peace during such times.

Isaiah condemned the religious leaders in his day for their hypocrisy (Isa 29:13; ip-1 299 ¶23)

Jesus applied Isaiah’s words to the religious leaders in the first century (Mt 15:7-9; w21.05 9 ¶7)
