“If a Man Dies, Can He Live Again?”

      p. 2

      TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

“If a Man Dies, Can He Live Again?”

      Humans are powerless to prevent death or restore life (Job 14:1, 2, 4, 10; w99 10/15 3 ¶1-3)

      The dead can live again (Job 14:7-9; w15 4/15 32 ¶1-2)

Not only does Jehovah have the ability to resurrect his servants but he also has a longing to do so (Job 14:14, 15; w11 3/1 22 ¶5)

        LIVING AS CHRISTIANS

        “Set Something Aside”

We should not leave voluntary donations to chance. Instead, as the apostle Paul recommended, we should regularly “set something aside.” (1Co 16:2) Following this inspired advice helps us to advance pure worship and brings us joy. No matter how insignificant our personal donations may seem to us, Jehovah greatly appreciates the fact that we want to honor him with our valuable things.—Pr 3:9.

            p. 4

            TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

Eliphaz Demonstrates How Not to Give Comfort

Eliphaz told Job that humans could never please God (Job 15:14-16; w05 9/15 26 ¶4-5)

Eliphaz implied that Job was wicked and that this was why he was suffering (Job 15:20)

Eliphaz’ words did not comfort Job (Job 16:1, 2)

Eliphaz pointing an accusing finger at Job, who is covered in boils, while two other false comforters observe.

What Eliphaz said to Job was a lie. Jehovah values our efforts to serve him. (Ps 149:4) Even the righteous can expect to experience problems.—Ps 34:19.

                      TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

Righteousness Is Not Defined by Wealth

Zophar contended that God removes the wealth of the wicked, implying that Job must have sinned (Job 20:5, 10, 15)

Job countered: ‘Then why do the wicked prosper?’ (Job 21:7-9)

Jesus’ example proves that the righteous may not have material wealth (Lu 9:58)

Be “Content With the Present Things”

If we have little materially, we could be tempted to make compromises that could be damaging to our spirituality. For example, we may receive an opportunity to make a lot of money that comes at a spiritual cost. Meditating on Hebrews 13:5 will help us.

“Let your way of life be free of the love of money”

“I will never leave you, and I will never abandon you”

                        • Trust that Jehovah will help you to obtain life’s necessities if you continue to put the Kingdom first.—w14 4/15 21 ¶17.

(1Sa 2:26; Lu 2:52) Even if they are very young, children can make Jehovah’s heart rejoice by their good conduct. (Pr 27:11) Through his organization, Jehovah has provided excellent tools to help parents teach their young ones to love and obey Jehovah.

                                    Integrity and Our Thoughts

We demonstrate integrity not just by what we say and do but also by what we think about. (Ps 19:14) Therefore, the Bible urges us to think about whatever things are true, of serious concern, righteous, chaste, lovable, well-spoken-of, virtuous, and praiseworthy. (Php 4:8) Of course, we cannot always prevent wrong thoughts from entering our mind. However, self-control can help us to push a bad thought out and replace it with a wholesome one. Maintaining integrity in our thinking will help us to maintain integrity in our actions.—Mr 7:21-23.

My Contribution to Our Good Reputation

People take note of the conduct of Jehovah’s Witnesses. (1Co 4:9) We might ask ourselves, ‘Do my speech and actions bring glory to Jehovah?’ (1Pe 2:12) We certainly do not want to do anything that would tarnish the good reputation earned by Jehovah’s Witnesses over many years.—Ec 10:1.

                                          • Your clothing, car, or home becomes unkempt

                                          • A local law seems unfair or difficult to obey
