        LIVING AS CHRISTIANS

        See Yourself as Jehovah Does

“Jehovah takes pleasure in his people.” (Ps 149:4) Although we are imperfect, he sees our good qualities and potential. At times, however, we may find it difficult to have such a balanced view of ourselves. We may struggle with feelings of low self-worth because of the way that others treat us. Or, if we focus on past mistakes, we may doubt whether Jehovah could really love us. What can help us when we experience such feelings?

Remember that Jehovah sees beyond what humans see. (1Sa 16:7) That means that he even sees beyond what we see in ourselves. Thankfully, the Bible provides a window into how Jehovah views us. We can peer through that window by considering Bible verses and accounts that reveal how much Jehovah loves his worshippers.

              LIVING AS CHRISTIANS

Are You Prepared for an Economic Crisis?

We are not shocked when world events create unstable economic conditions internationally. Why not? Because we are living deep in the last days and the Bible warns us not to place our hope in “uncertain riches.” (1Ti 6:17; 2Ti 3:1) What can King Jehoshaphat’s example teach us about being prepared for an economic crisis?

When faced with a threat from enemy nations, Jehoshaphat trusted in Jehovah. (2Ch 20:9-12) He also took practical measures to prepare the nation beforehand by fortifying cities and setting up garrisons. (2Ch 17:1, 2, 12, 13) Like Jehoshaphat, we do well to trust in Jehovah and take practical steps to face difficult times.

                          Hezekiah’s father, King Ahaz, did detestable things (2Ch 28:1; w16.02 14 ¶8)

Hezekiah chose to serve Jehovah despite his father’s bad example (2Ch 29:1-3; w16.02 14 ¶9-11)

Hezekiah encouraged others not to let the unfaithfulness of their fathers stop them from serving Jehovah (2Ch 29:4-6)

Jehovah Is the “Father of the Fatherless”

Each year, many young ones choose to become Jehovah’s friend. (Ps 110:3) Jehovah cares deeply about each one of you. He understands the unique challenges you face and promises to help you to serve him. If you are being raised in a single-parent home, remember that Jehovah becomes the “father of the fatherless.” (Ps 68:5) With Jehovah’s training, you can succeed no matter what your situation is at home.—1Pe 5:10.

Satan and those under his influence often mix lies with truths in an attempt to undermine our faith. (2Co 11:3) For example, the Assyrians used half-truths and outright lies to discourage Jehovah’s people. (2Ch 32:10-15) Apostates use similar tactics today. How should we react to apostate teachings? Treat them as the poison they are! Never read them, reply to them, or repeat them. Be quick to detect information that is designed to raise doubts about Jehovah and his organization—and reject it!—Jude 3, 4.

Are You Making Good Use of the Audio Bible?

What is the audio Bible? The audio Bible is a recording of the revised New World Translation. It is being released gradually in as many languages as possible. One of the highlights of the audio Bible is that it uses a different voice for each Bible character. The words are read with proper emphasis and emotion to convey the Bible’s message with accuracy.

How are some benefiting from the audio Bible? Many who listen regularly to the audio Bible love how it brings God’s Word to life. They feel that by hearing a different reader for each Bible character, they can visualize Bible events better and gain a clearer understanding of what is written. (Pr 4:5) Many also find that listening to the audio Bible soothes them when they feel anxious.—Ps 94:19.

Hearing God’s Word read aloud can have a powerful effect on our lives. (2Ch 34:19-21) If the audio Bible is available in part or in full in a language that you understand, could you make listening to it a regular part of your spiritual routine?

Informal conversations are one of the most enjoyable and effective ways to give a witness. Still, we may get nervous about the idea of starting a conversation if we focus too much on how we will introduce a Scriptural thought. Rather than be overly worried about what you will say to give a witness, focus on showing personal interest. (Mt 22:39; Php 2:4) If during a conversation an opportunity presents itself to express your faith, you have plenty of tools available to help you.

How can the following tools help you to give a witness on a topic that comes up in a conversation?
