      TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

Seek Refuge in Jehovah’s “Everlasting Arms”

Jehovah wants us to remain morally upright (De 33:26; it-2 51)

Jehovah willingly uses his strength in our behalf (De 33:27; rr 120, box)

We should trust in Jehovah’s salvation as Moses did (De 33:29; w11 9/15 19 ¶16)

Jehovah’s everlasting arms support us during various trials. This includes when we are sick or depressed, face grief, or make mistakes but repent.

        LIVING AS CHRISTIANS

Use Enjoy Life Forever! in Your Ministry

How excited we are to have a new brochure and book for conducting Bible studies! We pray for Jehovah to bless our efforts to make many more disciples. (Mt 28:18-20; 1Co 3:6-9) How do we use the new tools?

Since Enjoy Life Forever!, the interactive Bible course, presents a new way to teach, follow these general guidelines as you prepare for and conduct Bible studies.a

        • Read the material, and discuss the questions

        • Read the “read” scriptures, and help the student to understand their application

        • Play and discuss the videos, using any questions that are provided

        • Try to cover each lesson in one session

In the ministry, offer the brochure first to determine a person’s interest. (See the box “How to Offer the Enjoy Life Forever! Brochure on the Initial Call.”) If you finish studying the brochure together and the student wants to continue, then offer the book and start with lesson 04. If you are already studying with someone in the Teach Us book or the Remain in God’s Love book, transfer to the Enjoy Life Forever! book and determine where in it to begin.

The same couple using the “Enjoy Life Forever!” book to conduct a Bible study with the man at his home.

WATCH THE VIDEO WELCOME TO YOUR BIBLE STUDY, AND THEN ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

        • What will students learn from the new book?

        • Why should you show this video to new students?

        • What goals should you progressively encourage the student to set and reach?—See the chart “Focus and Goals for Each Section”

a NOTE: Although the “Explore” section is optional during the study, take time to read or watch each item as you prepare. Then, you will know what may especially appeal to and help your student. The electronic version includes links to the videos and supplementary material.

              LIVING AS CHRISTIANS

Keep Training Your Powers of Discernment

An athlete must continue to train his muscles in order to remain skilled. Similarly, we must put forth repeated effort to train and to maintain our powers of discernment. (Heb 5:14) Although we may be inclined simply to copy the decisions of others, we must exercise our own thinking ability and decide for ourselves. Why? Each of us will render an account for our own decisions.—Ro 14:12.

We should not assume that we will make good decisions simply because we have been baptized for many years. To make wise decisions, we need to rely fully on Jehovah, his Word, and his organization.—Jos 1:7, 8; Pr 3:5, 6; Mt 24:45.

Jehovah’s direction may seem unwise from a human standpoint (Jos 3:12, 13; it-2 105; see cover picture)

Jehovah gives us tools to teach skillfully, such as videos, tracts, magazines, brochures, books, and our primary tool, the Bible. (2Ti 3:16) He also provides research tools that can assist us to explain the Scriptures. These include the Watchtower Library, the JW Library® app, the Watchtower ONLINE LIBRARY™, and the Research Guide for Jehovah’s Witnesses.

You will experience joy as you dig for spiritual treasures in the wealth of information available to you. Be sure to train your students how to use the tools. Then they too will find delight in discovering answers to their own Bible questions.

The Gibeonites showed practical wisdom (Jos 9:3-6; it-1 930-931)

The elders of Israel unwisely did not consult with Jehovah (Jos 9:14, 15; w11 11/15 8 ¶14)

                            The Gibeonites humbly served the Israelites (Jos 9:25-27; w04 10/15 18 ¶14)

The Gibeonites performed humble tasks because they wanted to gain Jehovah’s favor. How might we show similar humility today?

To help us, Jehovah has provided us with “the entire association” of our brothers and sisters. (1Pe 5:9) They can assist us to face challenges in the ministry with success. For instance, the apostle Paul benefited from the help of Aquila and Priscilla, Silas, Timothy, and others.—Ac 18:1-5.

How can fellow workers assist you in the ministry? They might give you practical suggestions on how to overcome objections, to make return visits, or to offer and conduct Bible studies. Think of someone in your congregation who could provide the help you need, and then ask for it. No doubt you both will find it beneficial, and you will contribute to each other’s joy.—Php 1:25.

                                        LIVING AS CHRISTIANS

                                        Keep Jehovah Constantly in Mind

When secular work is hard to find, we may struggle to keep the Kingdom and God’s righteousness first in our life. We may be tempted to accept work that hinders our service to Jehovah or violates Bible principles. However, we can be certain that Jehovah shows his strength “in behalf of those whose heart is complete toward him.” (2Ch 16:9) Nothing can prevent our loving Father from helping us and providing what we need. (Ro 8:32) Therefore, when making decisions about work, we must trust in Jehovah and keep our life focused on service to him.—Ps 16:8.

                                            Protect Your Precious Inheritance

Caleb protected his inheritance by driving out powerful enemies (Jos 15:14; it-1 1083 ¶3)

Not all Israelites protected their inheritance from corrupting influences (Jos 16:10; it-1 848)

Jehovah helped those who truly wanted to protect their inheritance (De 20:1-4; Jos 17:17, 18; it-1 402 ¶3)

Jehovah offers all Christians the precious inheritance of everlasting life. To safeguard our inheritance, we strengthen ourselves against temptation by means of Bible study, Christian meetings, the field ministry, and prayer.

Share the Good News That a Better World Is Near!

During November, we will make a special effort to share the good news that a better world is near. (Ps 37:10, 11; Re 21:3-5) Adjust your schedule to share fully in this campaign. If you sign up to serve as an auxiliary pioneer for the month, you may choose a 30- or 50-hour requirement.

Prepare to share a scripture regarding the new world with as many people as possible. When selecting a Bible verse, consider what would appeal to people in your territory. If someone expresses interest on the initial call, give him a copy of the public edition of The Watchtower No. 2 2021. Then, follow up on interest as soon as possible and try to start a Bible study using the Enjoy Life Forever! brochure. What a joy to be fully occupied in sharing “good news of something better”!—Isa 52:7.
