Jehovah’s Wise Way of Dividing the Land

Jehovah gave direction by lot, perhaps to designate the approximate location of each tribal inheritance (Jos 18:10; it-1 359 ¶1)

Jehovah ensured that Jacob’s deathbed prophecy was fulfilled (Jos 19:1; it-1 1200 ¶1)

Jehovah allowed the people to determine the extent of each tribe’s territory (Jos 19:9; it-1 359 ¶2)

The land was divided in a way that prevented jealousy or quarreling between the tribes. What confidence does this give you about how Jehovah will direct matters in the new world?

We Thank Jehovah for Your Love

The congregation in Thessalonica showed love to fellow Christians despite hardships. (2Th 1:3, 4) Jehovah’s people today show similar love for the worldwide association of brothers. The jw.org article series “How Your Donations Are Used” highlights ways that your donations have supported your brothers during these difficult times. We commend you for your love and generous support.

            Lessons From a Misunderstanding

The tribes living east of the Jordan built a large, impressive altar (Jos 22:10)

            The other tribes accused them of unfaithfulness (Jos 22:12, 15, 16; w06 4/15 5 ¶3)

The mild response of those wrongfully accused averted bloodshed (Jos 22:21-30; w08 11/15 18 ¶5)

What does this account teach us about how to react if we are wrongfully accused and about the importance of not drawing conclusions when we do not know the facts?—Pr 15:1; 18:13.

It is Jehovah who makes the seed of truth take root and grow in someone’s heart. (1Co 3:6-9) Therefore, in order to succeed in the ministry, we must rely on Jehovah to help us and our Bible students.

Ask Jehovah to help your students to endure pressures and to overcome obstacles. (Php 1:9, 10) Be specific. Pray for holy spirit to guide your thoughts and actions. (Lu 11:13) Teach your Bible students how to pray, and urge them to do so. Pray with and for your Bible students, using their name.

Tips for Making Meetings for Field Service Practical

Meetings for field service, like all congregation meetings, are a provision from Jehovah that enables us to incite one another to love and fine works. (Heb 10:24, 25) They should be five to seven minutes long, which includes organizing the groups, assigning territory, and saying a prayer. (If the meeting follows another meeting, it should be even shorter.) The conductor should prepare something that will be practical for those participating in the ministry that day. For example, on Saturday when many in attendance have not shared in the ministry since the previous weekend, it may be practical simply to consider what to say. What are some other subjects that might be beneficial to discuss?

                        • How to use a feature of the jw.org website, the JW Library® app, or the Bible

                        • How to use one of the tools from the Teaching Toolbox

                        • How to engage in a specific aspect of the ministry, such as telephone witnessing, letter writing, public witnessing, return visits, or Bible studies

                              How Can Sisters Reach Out?

Sisters make valuable contributions to the Kingdom work. (Ps 68:11) They conduct many of the home Bible studies and make up a large percentage of the regular pioneers. Thousands of hardworking sisters serve as Bethelites, missionaries, construction volunteers or servants, and translators. Mature sisters build up their families and congregations. (Pr 14:1) Although sisters cannot serve as elders or ministerial servants, they can still set goals in the congregation. If you are a sister, what are some ways that you can reach out?

Throughout history, God’s servants have accomplished amazing things, not because of their own ability, but because of Jehovah’s help. In 1954, Jehovah’s organization released a film entitled The New World Society in Action. It was produced primarily by Bethelites who had no experience in filmmaking. This daunting project was accomplished only by Jehovah’s holy spirit. It gives us confidence that if we rely on Jehovah, we can be successful in carrying out any assignment we receive.—Zec 4:6.

                                        Humility Is Better Than Pride

                                        Humility helped Gideon to promote peace (Jg 8:1-3; w00 8/15 25 ¶3)

Humility caused Gideon to seek Jehovah’s glory rather than his own (Jg 8:22, 23; w17.01 20 ¶15)

                                        Pride resulted in Abimelech bringing harm upon himself and others (Jg 9:1, 2, 5, 22-24; w08 2/15 9 ¶9)

An irate householder yelling at a couple who tried to preach to him.

How can humility help us when we respond to an irate householder?

                                            Jephthah—A Spiritual Man

                                            Jephthah kept his focus on the central issue —Jehovah’s Godship (Jg 11:23, 24, 27; it-2 27 ¶3)

In order to satisfy their spiritual need and progress to spiritual maturity, Bible students must learn more than the truths that we teach them. (Mt 5:3; Heb 5:12–6:2) They must also learn how to feed themselves spiritually.

From the beginning, show your Bible students how to prepare for their Bible study, and encourage them to do so. (mwb18.03 6) Encourage them to pray before each session of personal study. Help them to access and use digital tools for study. Explain how to keep up with what is new on jw.org and JW Broadcasting®. Progressively teach them to read the Bible every day, to prepare for congregation meetings, and to research the answers to their questions. Help them to meditate on what they are learning.
