“A Symbolic Drama” With Meaning for Us

        4:24-31

The apostle Paul used this “symbolic drama” to illustrate the superiority of the Abrahamic covenant over the Law covenant. Under the loving supervision of Christ and his fellow heirs of the promise to Abraham, all humankind has the prospect of freedom from sin, imperfection, sorrow, and death.—Isa 25:8, 9.

            1:8-10

Jehovah’s administration is an arrangement to unify all his intelligent creatures.

            • It prepares the anointed for life in heaven with Jesus Christ as their spiritual Head

            • It prepares those who will live on earth under the Messianic Kingdom

              LIVING AS CHRISTIANS

Make Your Personal Study More Rewarding

WHY IMPORTANT: Personal study of God’s Word helps us “to comprehend fully what is the breadth and length and height and depth” of the truth. (Eph 3:18) It also helps us to remain blameless and without blemish in the midst of a wicked world and to keep “a tight grip on the word of life.” (Php 2:15, 16) Personal study of God’s Word allows us to choose material that we need as individuals. How can we make the most of the time we spend reading and studying the Bible?

              HOW TO DO IT:

              • Highlight verses and make notes in your personal study Bible, either on paper or in electronic format

              • Ask yourself these questions as you read God’s Word: ‘Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?’

              • Get the facts. Using the research tools available, search by topic or Bible verse

              • Meditate on what you read to discern how the information applies to you

              • Apply what you learn to your day-to-day life.—Lu 6:47, 48

              • How have some described personal study?

              • Why should we begin each session of personal study with prayer?

              • What can help us to understand a Bible passage better?

              • What types of marks might we put in our study Bible?

              • Why is meditation so important when studying God’s Word?

              • What should we do with what we learn?

A sister does deep personal Bible study; a brother color-codes his Bible; a sister shares notes in her Bible with two men; a brother prays

“How I do love your law! I ponder over it all day long.”—Ps 119:97

                  6:11-17

The apostle Paul compared Christians to soldiers engaged in combat. Our enemies are “wicked spirit forces.” Although we may appear weak and vulnerable, we can win the battle with Jehovah’s help if we “put on the complete suit of armor from God.”

                    p. 4

                    LIVING AS CHRISTIANS

                    What Would Jehovah Think?

Before making big or small decisions, do we ask ourselves, ‘What would Jehovah think?’ Although we will never know everything about Jehovah’s mind, he does reveal enough in his Word to equip us for “every good work.” (2Ti 3:16, 17; Ro 11:33, 34) Jesus clearly perceived Jehovah’s will and made it his priority in life. (Joh 4:34) In imitation of Jesus, may we do our best to make decisions that please Jehovah.—Joh 8:28, 29; Eph 5:15-17.

                          LIVING AS CHRISTIANS

                          Choose Your Entertainment Wisely

Why must we choose our entertainment wisely? Because when we select a movie to watch, a song to listen to, a website to visit, a book to read, or a video game to play, we are choosing what to fill our mind with. Our choices affect our behavior. Sadly, much of the entertainment available today contains elements of things that Jehovah condemns. (Ps 11:5; Ga 5:19-21) For this reason, the Bible urges us to continue considering things that honor Jehovah.—Php 4:8.
